Turning 18
When someone turns 18, there are a lot of arrangements to be made. Making mistakes or not arranging something can have unpleasant consequences. Fortunately, in most cases things go well and young people do not get into trouble. However, problems do arise in 20% of young people. This often involves major (financial) problems. There is little insight into how young people with additional challenges between the ages of 16 – 19 and parents of young people with challenges experience these life events, what problems and/or bottlenecks occur in their contact with the (digital) government and how these can be prevented and/or improved.
Research methodology
Gamification
In this study, we used ‘gamification‘ as a research methodology to connect with the lives of young people and their parents. Under gamification farstion to applying game techniques in the research design. The basis of our methodology is that participants are experts of their experiences. Our tools help them in richly telling about them. We work with assignments instead of questions and explore their needs in an open way.
