The key for connection

Conversation starters

Would you like to engage in conversation with a target group that feels hard for you to reach? For example because you’re not (yet) part of their network, or because the topic is abstract, sensitive, or future-focused?

In this training you’ll learn how to develop and use conversation tools as low-threshold conversation starters. Tools that capture attention, spark curiosity, and open the conversation in a natural way — without coming across like a street vendor. Especially in places like markets, neighbourhoods, community centres, or other locations where your target group spends time.

Genuine connection

Starting conversations

Not every target group feels easy for everyone to reach. But that doesn’t mean the target group is hard to reach. Every target group has its own network, lived world, and topics that matter. But if you don’t (yet) have access to those, it can be difficult to start the conversation.

Every day, we speak with a wide range of target groups: from people in vulnerable situations to young people who are about to turn 18. We talk about themes that can be abstract or future-focused — such as the future of informal care — and about concrete topics within a neighbourhood-based approach, like quitting smoking.

We don’t do this by broadcasting a message, but by opening up the conversation. With thoughtfully designed conversation tools that invite people to choose, respond, or share. Tools that provide support — for you and for the other person.

This one-day training is for you if:

  • You want to engage with a (for you) hard-to-reach target group, but you’re not sure how.

  • You and your colleagues sometimes feel awkward about starting a conversation out of the blue.

  • You want to open a conversation confidently, without being pushy.

  • You want to put your target group at the centre of your work.

  • You want to learn from our years of experience.
