On the road to relief with independent client support

Delft voor Elkaar provides independent client support (OCO) in the municipality of Delft. This means support and guidance with requests for help in the areas of welfare, finances and transport. OCO is highly appreciated by the residents who use it. But what about the awareness of this service? Do enough people know of its existence? For the municipality of Delft, Muzus investigated the findability and visibility of the OCO for Delft residents. The resulting visual report provides advice to the municipality of Delft and Delft voor Elkaar on how to make the service more familiar and accessible.

To the people

In this project, we studied the needs and wishes of Delft residents about OCO. We did this through street interviews and in-depth interviews at people’s homes. Based on these we wrote an advice. We then took to the streets again to evaluate a number of recommendations. Such as naming Delft voor Elkaar instead of the independent client supporter, a term that was relatively unknown among residents. And naming concrete matters with which Delft voor Elkaar can be of service. As opposed to broadly naming requests for help. It was immediately nice to see awareness of OCO increase when we started talking about it on the street. We even referred some people with a request for help to Delft voor Elkaar.

Participant: "Wow, where were you guys three years ago! I really needed you guys then. [...] I was too stubborn to seek help then, but now the threshold is a little lower. Maybe I will take the step."

Working together for greater visibility

Not only visibility to Delft residents counts. Visibility within existing collaborations is also important. We worked together with the municipality of Delft, Delft voor Elkaar and Delft Support in several sessions. Issues were addressed directly. This strengthens the mutual ties.
