Bloom when you can no longer grow

Happy employees, that’s what every organization wants. And a piece of that happiness comes with ambition and perspective. Many employees then think of growing in height; more, better and higher. But what if that stretch is no longer there? How can you then encourage employees to keep getting the best out of themselves? For the City of Amsterdam, we developed a toolkit for managers that offers tools to help employees take ownership of their own careers. Not only upwards, but also downwards.

The Outlook

The toolkit consists of two tools that support a team manager in coaching an employee on career development; a test and a range. The test is based entirely on context mapping research among in-house employees. The outcome of the test is a color for the employee, corresponding to a type of persona, and a starting point for conversation. The range provides tools for the manager to help the employee take ownership of their own career.

The attitude of the team managers turned 180 degrees.They have opened their hearts to this part of their work.Hope has arisen.

Co-creation

In addition to in-depth research with employees, we had team managers and HR staff participate in this process. They got to work as Raging Reporters and participated in co-creation sessions.
